Well, I finally around to hooking up a nice manual for Phantom.Home, and that was the last step
to Phantom.Home reaching 1.00!!! Check it out!
I saw Me, Myself, & Irene the other night starring Jim Carrey. I tell you what, it has
to be one his best movies yet! He's done some funny stuff, but this is way up there as one of
his best. If you haven't seen this movie, I urge you to go see it. However, if you're
offended in any way by naughty language, dildos, or bad stereotypes, then
you may want to think twice, hee hee hee :).
Working on new releases of Phantom.Home (Version 1.00!!!) and Freemed-YiRC (Beta0.11). Very busy,
so check back often!!!
After taking a quick look through the Yahoo! Entertainment news section, it looks like
there are quite a few movie sequels coming out...
Lot's O' Stuff happening! Looks pretty cool...
Now only if they would donate some of the proceeds to help put gas in my tank...:)
Let's have a SALE-A-BRATION! Microsoft is going to be broken in two... Oh... wait... they're going to appeal. Hmmm... nevermind.
On second thought, let's not celebrate... Regular gas in the Toledo area has risen to $1.87 a gallon. The
premium stuff is OVER $2.00 A GALLON. Hmmm.... somebody's getting fucking rich...
I went out to buy a new scanner last night and ended up also buying an Intel USB video camera! It was sitting
on the clearance table at OfficeMax for $59.99! I also got an HP Scanjet 3300C USB scanner! I got both
hooked up to my Win98 laptop OK, but I could only get the camera to hook up my Win95 homepc. The USB install went OK,
but the dumb HP software won't even install in Win95 :(. Looks like I've gotta do a re-load....
God I hate Microsoft.
In any case I'm going to be doing a lot of scanning and picture taking over the weekend if I have
the time. Hopefully I'm gonna update some stuff on the site!!! I really wanna get some new pics
of my car with the sunroof and stuff... but I have to WASH it first :).
Ahhh. It's like 85 degrees and sunny. Can't beat it.
Elian Gonzales in court??? NOPE. Phew!
Microsoft? 3 pieces would be nice. 2 would just make 2 big monopolies. Bad move
the gov't part!
Cookies! Cookies! Cookies! With all the hubbub over cookies lately I came across some
info on how to make your web browsing experience a little more ANONYMOUS. Here is
how to make sure Netscape doesn't give you away:
Go into Edit -> Preferences. Click on 'Advanced'. The bottom half of the window should
relate to cookies in Netscape. Make sure this says 'Accept ONLY cookies that get sent to the
originating server'. What this does is if you go to someplace with a banner ad, that banner
ad usually can track your movements via cookies. Well, if you go to yahoo.com or something,
and the ad is from doubleclick, then the doubleclick cookie will get rejected, and it will
only allow yahoo cookies (which are usually temporary, and have legitimate purposes). NEXT
we want to make sure that cookies are not saved across sessions. This way each time you
start Netscape, no past cookies will be in memory, and therefore they (the advertising banner
people... like DoubleClick and FocalLink to name a few) can't track you that easily using
cookies. In windows, go into C:, then Program Files, then Netscape, then
users. There are one or more folders in this one. There is one for each user in
Netscape. What you should do is go into EACH of them and find the file cookies.txt.
Edit the file (with your favorite text editor (notepad or word will work fine)). And DELETE
the ENTIRE contents of the file. You can safely ignore the warnings at the top of the file.
Once the file is EMPTY, save it. Then exit your text editor. Now, right-click on cookies.txt
and make it READ-ONLY. What this does is it forbids Netscape to write to it!
Linux users don't fret!!! Go into your home directory (i.e. /root, or /home/users/bob or whatever)
and cd .netscape. Netscape creates a hidden directory in your home directory to store
it's stuff (like cookies). The cookies file is called... cookies :). What you
need to do is to DELETE the file and then create a directory called cookies.
Then make the directory inaccessible by issuing the command chmod 000 cookies.
You have to do this because if you just make the file read-only, Netscape can still edit
the cookies file. BUT, if we create a directory with the same name as the file, then you
SHOULD be A-OK... because Netscape won't be able to write to the cookies file because it
doesn't exist, and because there is a directory of the same name. Don't worry, Netscape
will not create a cookies file in the cookies directory :).
And VIOLA! You should be a little safer in your web browsing experience.
It's been like a month since I've posted... :) Been busy.
I've updated Phantom.Home to Beta0.70. It's no longer the CPU resource hog it used to be! Also I've updated the Phantom.Home.Controller.jpg to indicate the CORRECT pin numbering. enjoy!
Well, after my event with the LCD displays I'm currently diving into the
wide, wide world of PICs (Programmable Integrated
Circuits). They're tiny little microchips that can be programmed to
do real simple to moderately complex tasks. The most common one I found is the
16F84 by
Microchip Technologies.
After ordering some chips and crystals (used for clocking the 16F84 at 10Mhz or
so) from
Jameco.
I spent about 3 hours and got a set of 8 LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) flashing in three different patterns, I was hooked. I was
using an old programmer borrowed from a friend, and am now waiting for my new
MicroEngineering Labs.
EPIC programmer to arrive. I've used MEs BASIC and it looks pretty hot. I've
done a tiny bit with the MPASM (Assembler), but it's freaking complicated. And
I've seen links to some C/C++ compilers for these things. However, for the
tasks at hand, I think BASIC will do me for some time to come.
All this new electronics knowledge is kind of breathing new life into the idea
of creating a robot. Of course, it's been like a year and a half since I've
even looked at some of the stuff, but, what the hell. We'll see what happens!
Look for more info on PICS on my
Linkz page and possibly even a PIC section...
Am I the only person on this planet who is really fucking tired of little Alien Gonzalez??? Good! Get him the fuck out of this country and stop spending my goddam tax dollars on this little shit and devote it to something else...
I've got my MP-ROM installed in my
Monte Carlo!!!! It's awesome!!! The MP-ROM
(that I talked about in my Saturday post) is a small 12VDC unit that is the
same size as a standard computer CD-ROM drive unit. It claims to hook up to
ANY ATAPI IDE CD-ROM. It reads MP3 off of burned CD-Rs that anyone
with a CD burner can make. I had problems with it when I hooked it up to a
week-old 48Max CD-ROM by I/O Magic. It was skipping and really freaking me out.
But then I hooked it up to my old reliable 24Max Momitsu CD-ROM drive and it
runs like a charm! Mine came with a home AC adapter, but you can get a 12V
DC car adapter (MUST BE AT LEAST 1.25 Amps!!!!) at Radio Shack for like $16.
So... you hook the MP-ROM unit up to the CD-ROM (there are two connectors the
plug into the CD-ROM from the MP-ROM unit, the 40-pin IDE ribbon cable, and
the 4-wire 5V/12V power plug), plug it into your stereo and off you go! The
ONLY problem I had with the unit is that it's display is lacking. It only
has a numeric display which tells you how many songs are on the CD, and which
song is playing. This doesn't impress me, but the unit sounds and works
GREAT! I had replaced my Pioneer CD player last year with an Audiovox that
has a front audio input (a 1/8" jack). So now I just run a cord from the front
of the MP-ROM to the Audiovox CD Player and I'm off!!! If you get the right
CD-ROM you should have NO SKIPPING PROBLEMS. Most newer (i.e. anything above
16X) CD-ROMs have buffer memory in them so even if you're going over railroad
tracks, you should be A-OK. I had my brother wrap the MP-ROM and CD-ROM in
black vinyl so it looks perty. He then took out my center ash tray and made
a small tray for the MP-ROM/CD-ROM unit out of wood (and wrapped that in black
vinyl, too). This way, I can take the MP-ROM/CD-ROM with me at night (along
with the CD player face plate) so it doesn't get stolen. The whole thing looks
really cool, and SOUNDS really cool too!
On a standard 650MB CD-R you can store nearly (and sometimes more than) 10 timesthe music the music using MP3 compression!!! I've spent the last year or so
compressing my music collection, and now the work is coming to fruition! I've
got my home linux machine with a 30GB HD, a MP3 player in my car, and the
ability to do the same at work. It's really cool. I recommend an MP-ROM to
anyone who has the ability and know-how to do such things!!!
You can check out the MP-ROM at
www.carmp3player.com!!!
I had a chance to fool around with some LCD character displays this weekend.
I got a hold of a 20 (character) by 4 (row) display and hooked it into the
parallel port. Had problems at first until I got a winamp plug-in and managed
to make it work. Was pretty sweet playing MP3s and having the display on the
LCD read-out the author and the title of the track as well as how much time
was left on the track. Then I downloaded some C++ routines for working with
it and did some modifications because they didn't work completely. I'll see
if I can post some info (C++ source and scripts) on the site when I get time.
Why? Well, at first I was looking at buying a small computer and putting it
in my car, but then I found the MP-ROM. But a computer without a bulky screen
with a cheap character LCD may indeed have it's advantages. I could try and
build an LCD/Keypad entry system for use with Phantom.Security! Or even
Phantom.Home.... the possiblities are really only limited by the imagination.
Of course, money and time also play a factor too :) ...
Well, I'm adding a new 'mp3' section to my
linkz
page. I got my home system together with a 30GB hard drive and loaded that
baby up. Now I've found a MP3 car/home player that will hook up to ANY ATAPI
CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. That's right... DVD-ROM drive! I can't wait to try
this one out. Anyone out there know where I can get some DVD-ROMs burnt??? :)
I got tired of waiting for the MamboX and Pine D'Music models... :)
Wow. I picked up a 30GB IDE hard drive for $229 yesterday at Best Buy!
Can you say MP3 haven? :)
I plugged it into my good ole' Cyrix 300Mhz MB this morning and had no problems
whatsoever. I used Mandrake 7's diskdrake to give it a 30GB partition.
That's no joke... a 30GB hard drive partition! Not a bunch of 4.8GB or 2.1GB
partitions, but one big fat 30GB partition. It's an Ultra ATA-66 drive, but
my MB doesn't have any ATA support (I dont think!)... in any case, it seems to
work just fine in standard mode. While at the store I also say a 40GB drive,
and last week I saw an aricle on slashdot for 75GB desktop drives. Definately very cool...
(Im in the process of dumping my 15 MP3 CD-Rs on it now! :) )
I'm in the process of converting my 200+ CD collection into MP3s. I've known
about MP3s for over a year and a half, but now it's coming to the point where
MP3s (at least, In My Humble Opinion) are quickly taking over traditional
CD formats. I found a very cool website...
www.mp3car.com
... and I am VERY EXCITIED.
You see, with the advent of 20G and 30G IDE Hard Drives for like $199
(from Best Buy and Circuit City) I can now store my ENTIRE collection on ONE
computer. So I've got a machine at home and one at work which house MP3s.
At will, using
Linux
,
X
, and
XMMS (the X Multi-Media System)
I can now access my ENTIRE collection without having to lug my 200CD case
around with me. In addition, I've probably made about 12 or so MP3 CDs covering
nearly half of my collection. So I can play a fair amount of albums from ANY
PC with MP3 software.
Anyway... that's at home, work, a friend's house, etc... what about on the
road??? Well, as posted last year I had put a computer in my car complete
with 9" TV/VCR. Alas, I've sold both the laptop and the TV so I can put a
dent in my credit cards. But I'm seriously getting to the point where I
WANT to play MP3s in my car. Now, I've had a Diamond Rio 64MB for over a
year now, but it can only store like an hour of 128KB (CD-Quality) songs.
Good, but not at all good enough.
But VERY soon this will change. After looking at the
hardware page
on
www.mp3car.com, the
NEAR future of mobile MP3s looks VERY bright!
They have 3 new units listed which should all be out in either April or May
which are between $180-$300. One unit, the
MamboX
looks so cool, I'm probably going to be loosing sleep over it for the next week or so. Check
out their
web site! This little bad
boy can play MP3s from a standard burned CD-R!!! And you can store 650MB
of MP3s on a burned CD-R. That's like 10 times the amount of music stored
on a standard CD!!! But it can also play standard audio CDs!!! You can't
beat it. And it's like only a little bigger than a Sony Walkman to boast.
But ALSO, it's got an amazing 45 second anti-skip buffer! 45 seconds!!!
That's something to brag about, IMHO. It also boasts an amazing 12 hours
of play time on 2AA batteries. This I don't know about. My Diamond Rio
can do this on one, but it has no moving parts. The Mambo has to move a
CD around every once and a while to get data. But that's what their site
says... so I'm VERY impressed. Ship me one unit and a car cord please!
Do I have one... no. Why not? It's not out yet. Their site is saying MAYBE
in the middle of April they'll be ready. I'm hesitant because I want it
reviewed first. I want to make sure it works and it works good. What's
this bad boy cost?
I'm dying over here for one. There are a few other units, but they're a little
more expensive and won't be out for another month or so... these are the
D'Music SM200-c and I-Jam Portable CD Player. The
listed prices for these units is $279.99 and $275.95 respectively. You can
check snipets out about them on the
www.mp3car.com
site.
Now, on the MamboX site, they also have listed that sometime in the second
quarter of 2000 (Apr, May, June), they're going to be offering an IN-DASH
model!!! They only have one picture on the website and no more info, but
it looks cooler than sliced bread. Now if only we can get some DVD audio
MP3 players... 2 or 4 GB of MP3s on a DVD??? COOL!!! But that's too come.
Why am I not talking about car computers? I want to drop in a 20GB hard drive
and GO! Well, the problem right now is the cost of hard drives.
WHAT? Hard drives are DIRT CHEAP!. Well, yes and no.
You see, the desktop IDE hard drives are indeed dirt cheap. However, in
order to put up with the abusive enviornment of a car, you REALLY need a
laptop hard drive, and those are QUITE a bit more expenive. And I'm pretty
sure they don't have 20GB laptop drives out for less than $1000 right now.
In the future, hell yeah! www.mp3car.com has TONS of examples of people doing
exactly this (but with smaller laptop hard drives (i.e. < 3GB)). And they
look pretty cool indeed. The best feature, in my opinion, are the LCD displays.
Now, I loved my 9" TV/VCR, but that thing could get you a ticket real quick.
A tiny little LCD/keypad probably won't attract that much attention. So
these units are indeed here, but not really for mass-consumption. In my
opinion, the future car computer is going to have MP3/GPS/Internet AND e-mail
all in one. Unfortunately, really cool wireless internet is still a year or
so off (IN MY AREA). In the HUGE metro areas this may be different.
Well, sorry for the rant, but I just needed to get out an update!!!
You knew the peace couldn't last forever... once again China is making
threats against Taiwan. It sounds like someone wants more lunch money...
If you don't like them, then build another fucking wall. Hello?
It's 2000 let's get with it... oh... that's right... wrong calendar. But
their calendar is older than ours right? Hmmm. It really shows...
It's been one long ass week in Russia. I guess when that Russian commander
said they'd have Chechnya in a week, he meant two months or something. Go figure...
Tomorrow's Super Tuesday, eh? Have to right that one down or something. Nah,
I'll forget that anyway. Hell, I can't even remember to take out the garbage or
shovel the driveway. I'd rather not spend 15 minutes trying to figure out which
name sounds better as a president. Sound wrong? What? It's
not like you can trust any damned thing they say. They'll reverse themselves
once they're elected (which isn't by popular vote anymore, in case you didn't
know)...
Beautufil weather today. Good to ease the mind from all the bullshit.
'Tis true. After downloading the ISO from
www.mandrake.org
and installing it on a few of my company's 400MHZ Intel i810s, I'd have to say
that Linux-Mandrake has just taken the place of my favorite desktop OS.
It's fast, and GNOME looks (and runs) just beautiful. It's pre-compiled for
Pentium machines, giving it a speed edge over some other Linux distros... it's
RPM based, just like RedHat, and it's virtually fully compatible with the
structure of RedHat. The install took forever, but after that it was
a breeze...
There's an artical on
www.slashdot.org
about a portable MP3 player with an almost 5GB hard drive!!! This is absolutely
amazing, to say the least! But with a $799 price tag it makes me want to cry...
it's up there with the Qualcomm PDQ. Now if somebody could crunch the PDQ
and this huge MP3 player together... that'd be the best thing since the PC
itself... just In My Humble Opinion :).
OK. I've got the Beta out for Freemed-YiRC out... and I've also dedicated a server for it at work. It can be reached at freemed-yirc.familyandyouth.org. On the site the Beta's can be downloaded, as well as docs and a live demo.
After finally getting some major projects finished at work, I've got some
time to do some coding on Freemed-YiRC. I hope to have the first Beta out
pretty soon. It's klunky, but it demonstrates what I want it to do. It
will have semi-functional contact, user, and security databases, as well as
a beta Incident Report System. When I get it all packaged up I'll open a
new section on
www.familyandyouth.org and place
all the necessary stuff in there. From the name you will find that
Freemed-YiRC is a Freemed deritive. If
you are in any sector of the Medical industry, please check them out!
Here in Toledo we're getting clobbered with snow. Oh how I miss Florida :)...
The bad things about having an old building with three-phase power are many.
First and foremost is that when one part of the power goes out, the system
will backfeed and spit out 20V-30V. Well, a while ago I lost 10 computers
that way. They all had top-of-the-line APC surge protectors (not battery
backups, unfortuantely), too. Well, today I lost 2 more. What a pain in
the ass....
In any case, I add a couple of items to my favorites list. I added the book
"Islands in the Net" by Bruce Sterling and the move 3 Kings.
I thought both of them were pretty good, so they deserve to be on my list :).
I also saw Next Friday but I didn't think it was all that good. The
original was much better...
It sure was nice relaxing on Daytona Beach for a week... but then I came home to
more snow... ah, such is life... :) My girlfriend and I took some pictures, if
I get some time I'll scan & post 'em...
In more useful news, it looks like I'm going to again be cutting back
work on my 'personal' projects (i.e. Phantom, Freemed-YiRC, etc...) due to
increasing work levels at my job... I need to get into a time management system
:)...
On the anti-political front: Am I the only one getting severly pissed off at the
amount of time and money our government is spending on "poor little"
Elian Gonzales? Send him back or keep him here, but for Christ's sake, get
on with it...
Been slackin here on the web site. I apologize :)
M'Kay... Russia is funny. Like a month ago one of their military leaders
said they'd have Chechnya in days... not weeks. Well, here we are... weeks
later. They're still not all dead yet... they're worse liars than we are...
I never got around to releasing an updated Phantom.Home package yet... I just
couldn't get it done in that timespace. Don't know when I'll have 1.0 out,
either... I also have to make an update to Phantom.Security with some minor
bug fixes, too... time will tell.
I'm learning tons every day about PHP3 & SQL. Freemed-YiRC is progressing
at a decent rate. When I get a package that I'm happy with I'll place every
thing on a site. I don't know which site it'll be on, though. Hopefully
I'll be able to put on
www.freemed.org & place a link to it from
www.familyandyouth.org... We'll
see...
My vacation is only a week or so away... ahhh.. Florida here I come...
Been a while! I've been very busy over here. But I do have some updates here:
I will be giving a presentation on Phantom.Home at the
Toledo Area Linux Users Group
meeting tomorrow (Wen 10/12) at the Univeristy of Toledo, Palmer Hall
(South Engineering) in room 3010. The meeting is set for 7:30. Scott Collins
from Mozilla (AOL) will be talking also, so I don't know the exact time. I
spent all weekend building a killer Phantom.Home box so I'm ready to go. If
I have enough time tomorrow before I go I want to make a few quick updates to
Phantom.Home. I'll probably release Phantom.Home Beta0.70 if I can. Soon
after I plan on releasing 1.00... when I can get some time to write up some
docs, and get the diagram in Aldus Pagemaker (will release as JPG, of course).
I'm starting to get ready to do some major coding for the
Freemed Project. I'm
planning on building a Youth Residential Care package. I've got some early
stuff but it'll take me a while to get going.
Have fun!!!
Well, after watching CNN for hours on Friday, I decided not to spend my New
Year's at work. Thought I would. Swore I would. But didn't. I still can't
believe what little has resulted from Y2K. I'm very elated because of this.
But let's not forget... don't let anyone tell you Y2K was just another 'scam'.
The reason little happened is because so many of us (IS people) have been
working on it. Most late than others, but massive efforts have been used to
accomplish this fete. Had these efforts not occured, last night could have
made Trinity look like a firecracker!
Since I figured we weren't going to be seeing any major explosions (as in bombs
dropping), I decided rather to drop my own :) My brother, his girlfriend, my
girlfriend, and I went to the local fireworks store and stumbled upon a 2-for-1
sale. That was fun :). So we made our own explosions. We had about 4 rolls
of 2500+ firecrackers. One we set off early, two at midnight, and one
immediately after those two had finished (roughly 5 minutes per roll!!). Screw
Y2K problems, I was havin' fun :).
So what's the lesson learned here? I'd have to say an ounce of prevention is
worth a TON of cure.
Well, I figured I'd give you guys a break after my last long-winded speech. :)
Well, as the gangster rapper from Strange Days said: "Y2K is upon
us, the end is near!". :) I hope my trusty flashlight has enough
batteries and I have enough bags of tortilla chips on hand...
Maybe that inverter I bought for my car will come in handy.... :)
Well, in any case, have a safe and happy new year!!!
I thought about a lot of things last night. One of the subjects was regarding
the stuff I was doing with HDML. It made me realize something: network
computing is coming of age. It's not growing elderly, but it's just hitting
puberty, and the world is going is going to get pretty awkward for it.
Such as anything in life, things are most dense in the center, and less dense
on the periphery. This can be applied to almost anything. Goverment? Sure.
Cities? Yep. Atoms? You betcha.
Computer networks?
Yes. Anyone familiar with telecom can tell you that the 'last mile' from a
telecom company (telephone, cable, etc...) is a pain. That's why we're pudding
around at 56K at home while your company is running off of an OC-3 (well....
maybe a T1 :) ). So it's true to form, right? The lines which connect telecoms
together to form the Internet Infrastructure is a dense core, while JoeBob
sits at home (the outer periphery).
Change
But it's changing. Playing with this cell phone stuff just opened my eyes and
made me realize that the new millennium is going to bring with it wide change.
Pick up a copy of Neuromancer or Snow Crash... sure, it's
science fiction/cyberpunk, but could it happen? It is.
I can be sitting on a beach and do many tasks on this little text cell phone
screen. Get an emergency call and have to reboot a system? Punch up a
few commands on the ole' Internet phone, and there you are. Yesterday you
could hook up a cell phone to your laptop for a klunky connection (which
probably tops out at 14.4K if your LUCKY). Now you've got a web device
that can attach to your belt (right next to your Motorola AlphaNumeric Pager
and Diamond Rio). Feel like Batman?
But it's gonna get better. See those little flat computers on Star Trek?
The ones that look like a small tablet of paper? You can buy one of those
now. Hopefully soon here wireless speeds will take off when public
usage of the network grows. Forgetting a phone number will be next to
impossible. The same with addresses and maps. If you have a portable Internet
device with you, you're carrying around a library at your disposal.
So is it really true to form? The outer periphery is going to be wrought
closer to the inner core as the 'last mile' might not even apply anymore. Take
the wires out of the last mile and you have a medium that you don't need to
dig up ground or string new wires to upgrade. Simply buy new transmitters and
radios.
So is it really true to form? I'm really tempted to say no. But, alas, it is. The core will always progress at a faster rate than the outer periphery. However, I don't really care at what speed the telecoms talk to eachother... I care about how fast I can read The Onion when I'm sitting on Daytona Beach watching the real surfers...
I've been check out the Sprint PCS Wireless Web stuff and I think it's pretty freakin' schweet. Anyone can access an HDML enabled web site with a Sprint PCS Internet enabled phone! Think it sound cool? It is! Check out my new package: Phantom.Home.HDML. Yep! You can now control you Phantom.Home box with you Sprint PCS cell phone!!! Check it out on my site (under the Phantom.Home page) as well as the HDML reference pages at www.phone.com!
Long time no e, eh?
Boy I can't wait for a vacation... been too long :) gotta get out for a while.
Been pretty busty workin' on some stuff. Still trying to play around with
PHP3 & PostgreSQL... if I can get solid time allotted I might write a killer
app. Ha, yeah, right. Time... a luxury.
In any case, check out http://www.freemed.org....
I made some small updates to my favorites and 97 Monte pages... long time overdue!
Thank Me it's Friday.
Doesn't the Bicentennial Man come out today!?!
Well, I now be a member of the Toledo Area Linux Users Group! I went to
their meeting last night and thought it was pretty schweet. They were covering
some more intermediate/advanced topics, but I found it very informative. You
can check out the site at http://www.talug.org.
We meet on the second Wednesday of every month. Last night was at Palmer Hall
room 3010 at the University of Toledo. However, they're not sure where the
next meeting will take place. It'll be on the site when they know, I'm sure.
At the end of the meeting I introduced myself and GNU Phantom to them and
offered to demonstrate it at the next meeting. So... if they approve it then
you may be able to see Phantom in action! I'll keep ya posted...
On another topic, Richard Stallman (of GNU/Free Software fame) is giving a speach on Jan 24. 2000 at the University of Cincinatti. I'm currently planning on attending (if I can schedule it... it be on a Monday), and just want others to know about it!!!
