This car is gone! It was sold on 9/20/1999. I still have the rims and neons.
The neons I put on my Monte Carlo. I don't know what I'm going to do with my
rims...
Update!
This car is back on the road! The 327 was taken out by my brother, and a
305 from a '85 Camero was put in. Now I've got to start replacing all the
body parts... But watch out for it!
This is definitely the nicest car I've ever owned (when it was in this
condition). It had a Chevy 327 small block engine with a Powerglide
transmission (later we replaced it with a 350 Turbo Trans). I've added
100 spoke chrome L.A. Wire deep-dish rims with gold nipples, and smoothie center
caps instead of the eagle spin-offs. I added half-moon solid chrome headlight
covers, too. I've replaced some of the old faded painted chrome parts, such
as the 327 flags on the sides, and the ImpalaSS insignia on the trunk. But,
alas, it's sitting idle about now. Not because it's winter though. No, it's
because I drove it to death. When I bought the car, I knew it had to be a
lemon from the start because as I was driving it home (I bought it in Lima),
the fuel pump broke. And all throughout the time I drove it, it's always
leaked oil. My brother and I have replaced every damned seal on that engine,
as well as bought brand a new Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold. We
replaced some other engine parts as well. But in the end, the engine lost
the battle for life, and it got the knock of death. It's patiently awaiting
a new engine (when I can get the money!), and is sitting on blocks in my yard.
However, when I get some extra money later (and I get the car paid off!!!) I
will certainly return to this beauty!
